If your TP-Link range extender randomly drops the 5Ghz connection from your Verizon Fios G1100/G3100, please read on…
Issue Description/Phenomenon
- Range extender sometimes loses internet on 5Ghz connection
- 5G light on the range extender turns off randomly
Solution
Disable DFS Channels during Channel Scan option on the Fios G1100/G3100. You may choose a 5GHz channel manually on the channel setting page, such as 149:
With this DFS Channels during Channel Scan option enabled, the Fios router may jump to the DFS channel after finishing the Channel Scan process, and the range extender won’t be able to connect to the network during the whole process, thus you may experience at least 2 mins disconnection.
If your host router is not Verizon Fios, but you also get a similar 5GHz disconnection issue, check if there are similar wireless settings on the router, try to disable it then monitor the connectivity.
If the range extender cannot detect your host router 5GHz signal? Check this.
