HS220 slow coming on
Is there a way to make the HS220 turn on faster when physically pressing the switch? Currently it takes about 2 seconds to start turning on, plus the fade time. I set it to instant on in my app, which doesn't seem to affect anything, as it still fades on and has the additional delay before that.
This is a safety issue, because a light switch needs to turn on instantly when pressed, period. They figured this out in, what, the late 1800s? So why is this switch so slow to turn on? This is the case with both of my dimmer HS220s. My regular non-dimming Kasa switches seem to turn on instantly.
If there is no way to fix this, I think these should be recalled because, again, it's a safety issue. If there is an emergency, nobody has time to play around with the switch to figure out how to get it on. Also, in the dark, elderly (and really anyone) are more likely to trip on things because the light didn't come on as expected.
Also, I'd like for TP-Link to provide an explaination as to why the switch was designed this way and why people's safety is less important than...wait, why doesn't it just turn on, for gods sake?

Hello @AlexNik4
I would suggest updating the beta firmware HS220 V2 beta on #13 or wait for the official firmware to check if it is still noticeable.
The beta has shortened the delay as much as possible it optimized on Double Tapo- None, with 'None' selected, switch will perform as Fast ON/OFF.

Hello, i also have a HS220 with the slow issue, my switch is a V3, I have tried to run the firmware updater on it as well, but it fails.
Please advise when this issue has been solved for V3 switches. This is unacceptable.

Hello @Carnious
Thank you for your feedback. The beta firmware is for HS220 V2 only. I'm gathering the similar feedback with HS220V1/ V3 and will forward to our team for further evaluation.

Any updates on this issue? I have 3 HS220 dimmers all are V3 currently on 1.0.3 FW. This delay is horrible and my little kids keep pressing it multiple times as they think the light has not turned on with the single press.
I will be willing to try a beta for V3 if you have one. Just bought this a few days ago and have no issue returning them if need be as well..

I also have a v3 and have the aforementioned issues. I hope a beta is in the pipeline so I can resolve this.

I got tired of dealing with this problem. My solution was to replace my Kasa switch with a GE Cync one. Setup was a bit of a pain, and it's not quite as feature rich as Kasa, but it switches my lights with low latency, which is all I want.

Hi All,
I purchased and installed a 3 pack of HS220 yesterday. I never thought I would need to be concerned about the speed of the on/off timing on a light switch. Now that I have installed them, I already regret the install.
I read through this thread and am hopeful there will be a fix soon with the amount of complaints on this. Please tell me there will be a fix soon. Id rather not have to remove these switches because of switch lag. This shouldnt even be on the radar, never mind an issue for any light switch.
I have V3 switches with firmware 1.0.3, and Im in Canada.

I tried the GE sync lights before. There was one huge hardware issue that bothered me and the support engineer confirmed it was as designed. If you click the circle button on the left or right side, you would feel and hear the click but the button press does not register. This was super annoying if you are walking by and try to quickly press the button and miss left or right. I would have kept the GE light in hope they would add more features if not for that hardware issue.
But I finally was able to try the beta for the HS220 V2 and it was actually very simple process to update. The delay is very much improved in my experience. It is still not instant which is disappointing, but it feels usable now. I didnt accuratly measure the difference, but it feels like the delay got cut down from over 1 second to about 400ms. Turning on the switch from the app is still faster 🤦♂️
