Hi

I am on a mac and when I attempt to access my USB on the router using smb, I am faced with a user and password request for 192.168.1.1

So I assume this must be my router admin name and pass, but they are rejected. They are both correct.

I cant think what other name and pass could be required?

Thx

N

I have an iMac when when I am asked for the user ID and Password, I use the router's User ID and password that I use when signing on to the router. I use the Registered User (not Guest) and do have the Keychain clicked on. Sign on to your router and go to the USB settings and see what you have set up there as on my router's user interface, I have some sign in options and I have selected to use the Login account in my sharing options.

@nickharm Ive tried a lot of things. The USB disk is listed on my TP web interface as connected but no amount of fiddling with settings wil get me past the password control on smb. I even changed the router admin name and pass to new ones, still no joy,

I just looked up your user guide for your model and it appears that your USB port is for 4G/5G, not a dish drive. https://www.tp-link.com/en/support/download/td-w9970/

Interesting... Contact support or message either @Tony or @Carl as they are TP Link employees to get a definitive answer.

@ArcherC8 It seems you can connect a printer via that USB port, with a cable. (which seems kind of unecessary as so many printers are wifi enabled anyway)

And it seems to say it is also a disk drive port,

Is the drive formatted FAT, FAT32, or NTFS? Most routers do not support drives that are formatted in the Apple formats unless they specificly say they do.
