Hi I am experiencing fluctuating wi fi connection issues to my extender although I am having no trouble watching netflix etc The wi fi led light can be on red then during the day it changes to green then back to red.  I checked my tether for my device when the light was green at first it said a poor signal then it changed to a perfect signal. Is it my extender or is it my Telstra smart modem?

@Tony Thanks Tony I have managed to move the extender 2meters closer to the modem and bingo all is right with the world.

Thanks for your speedy reply

The wireless signal does fluctuate like waves so it is not constant. From what it sounds like, the extender may be in a spot where it is just a bit far out of the router. I would try moving the extender a bit closer to see if that prevents the red LED from ever popping up.

@Tony thanks Tony

my problem is I run an Ethernet cable up to my Foxtel box so I can use the catch up feature and the tp link for the tv. Can I use another extender.? As the power point is near the tv

You could "chain" the extenders so connecting the new extender to the original extender. The main issue you might face is the reduced speed. When connecting through the extender speed is generally reduced to half since they are half-duplex devices, add another extender increases that factor. However, testing it may be the reduction is not more than what you need for your current application.
