Archer A20 - Can't get WAN to 1000mbps
Hello everyone.
Here's my issue: No matter how I connect my Archer A20 to my cable modem (Motorola MB7621), I get reduced speeds. Here's what I've tried:
- I contacted my cable company and confirmed that I get 600mbps down with my package.
- I connect my PC to the router directly. I get download speeds of over 600mbps. The router light is green, indicating gigabit mode.
- I connect my A20 to the modem. I get download speeds ranging from 5mbps-90mbps, but never higher. The router light is orange, indicating fast ethernet.
- I followed the FAQ article here and checked what my router says for Internet. The Internet Negotiation Speed is 100mbps.
- I went to Advanced > System Tools >System Parameters and confirmed that my Port Negotiation setting is Auto Negotiate.
- I tried setting Port Negotiation to 1000mbps Full Duplex. When I do this, the router gives an error says WAN is not connected.
- I've tried four different cables, including a brand new Cat6 cable I purchased today. Nothing changed. I tried using the same cable that worked when I connected my PC directly to the modem. Nothing changed.
- I performed a Factory Reset from the Advanced > System Tools > Backup and Restore > Factory Restore option. I tried all of the above again, and received the same results.
I am at my wits end. I can see that other ports are going to 1000mbps, but just not the WAN port. I bought the router in April. This is incredibly frustrating. Any ideas?
