Archer AX1500 extremely slow wifi6 speed with latest firmware
- I live in Japan and I bought my AX1500 from Amazon Japan
- Hardware Version: Archer AX10 v1.0
- Firmware Version: 1.1.0 Build 20200827 Rel. 40928(4A50)
- ISP: NTT EAST / ASAHI NET, IPv6
- I have lots wifi devices at home, but only 2 of them supports wifi6. They are: my iPhone 11 Pro Max, my Dell xps laptop.
- Problem: everything worked fine, until I installed the latest firmware. After installing, I noticed my wifi6 devices slow down to the point that their wifi speed is unusable.
- Before speed (fast.com): download 150Mbps / upload 300Mbps / 14ms latency
- After speed (fast.com): download 50Mbps / upload 50-300Mbps / 14-100ms latency, unstable
- In the meantime, my other 802.11ac devices are not affected and work as fast as before
- Also, if I manually turn off 802.11ax and force 802.11ac in the setting, then both of my wifi6 device return to normal very fast speed and very low latency

@Kevin_Z Yes that was me. Nobody from TP-Link ever contacted me again to this day.

I'm not sure what's going on, but I will help escalate it to the support engineers for you now.
Just to confirm, is the model of your Archer AX1500 or AX10? What is the current firmware version now?

As per the release note has already mentioned, the latest version cannot be downgraded to the previous:

Is the speed slow after the firmware update? Have you tried some basic troubleshooting as the following?
https://www.tp-link.com/support/faq/2170/
If the issue persists, please provide some basic information such as what is the normal speed you expect, and what is the speed you actually get when connecting to the AX1500 network, is it connected wired or wirelessly, etc, we will advise.

@RC_Robio This is why I got a WiFi 6 router... So I can disable a flagship feature of it to use my WiFi... Thanks TP-Link for letting me down.

@Kevin_Z Why would you disable downgrades if things like this happen? This has Apple energy and I don't like it at all...

Yeah well, after a month of testing i came to the conclusion that nothing can be done. I tried absolutely everything, on multiple devices.
Wireless speeds on 5Ghz on 1Gbps fiber internet is barely even reaching 450 Mbps on a Wifi6 compatible Laptop with an AX wireless card.
Same thing on another laptop, 5Ghz 1 Gbps fiber, AC compatible, 400 Mbps on Wireless.
Both laptops reach 950+ Mbps download and 800+ Mbps Upload on Lan/Cable with the same router...
Both laptops have same settings and before the last firmware update the AX compatible laptop was reaching 700+ Mbps download on wireless and the AC compatible laptop was reaching 550+ Mbps download, Lan was working the same as it's working now, 950+ Mbps Download.
EDIT:
Odly enough, today it works just fine, on the AX compatible laptop 750+ Mbps download speeds on wifi and on the AC compatible one 550+ Mbps download, i really don't get it, maybe it's related to the time of the day and with interferences from other wireless bands that are active at night when most people are home? I really don't understand what could cause this...
