AX50; WPA3, and OneMesh False Advertising

Anyone else saw TP-Link promised WPA3 and OnMesh on AX50? Only to have it removed and say they have no plans?

@Carl That is not what your website said on June 2nd. In saying firmware WILL be released means it WILL be released. There is no other "fine" print on the site at this date...FB post from Feburary 28th says "TP-Link is always comitted to protect our users. The lastest WPA3 security will be available on out WiFi6 routers. Listed under "Supported Models" is the "Archer AX50." Nice hash tag with #WPA3 as well. This is not false advertising or a decieving practice?

Hi MK. It's not false advertising. As with anything until its released plans can change. Whether it be due to product focus, hardware or software compatibility or other factors from time to time planned features or products will not release. For instances a few years ago, we announced Home Kit was coming to the HS105, however that did not pan out and the feature was scrubbed. Or the release of the KC125 an SD-card based version of the KC120 which was announced this year at CES was scrubbed when plans for the product line in the US changed after the show. We understand that at one point the page did indicate the feature was coming soon to the product and that it has since be removed from the list. At this time the understanding is that this has to do with some physical hardware limitations. We have also updated the disclaimer on the splash page to make this more clear it now reads:
Note: the WPA3 firmware of the products marked with "Coming Soon" will be released later. Please update the firmware to enjoy more secure Wi-Fi. The compatible device list will be updated regularly, and the information of planned models is only for reference; TP-Link reserves the right to modify this page at any time without notifying the user.
While we understand that the want for WPA3 is there it is simply not something that can be delivered at this time. That does not mean your product does not have security as you still has the industry standard AES powered WPA2 and the added security from TrendMicro's AV services built into the HomeCare Suite.

Your right it didn't say that back on June 2nd. Coming Soon is an indication that its planned but not a guarantee. When the splash page was published then and the Facebook post the intention was that it would be released, hence the coming soon. But as with anything unless it has been released it is subject to change. Products should be bought based on current features, not something that is marked as coming soon or has not yet been released. This is the same as with the examples I gave you previously. Products and features were announced. However due to changes in business, or technical limitations these products and services did not release. It’s not false advertising because at the time the intent was to deliver however before that delivery the plans changed. This is why we updated the disclaimer to better explain this scenario.

@Tony TP-link needs to look up the term "Promissory Estoppel" and understand how that applies to willful statements made about a product's future features to prospective buyers.
Promise of future features made to prospective buyers and then not fulfilling those promises... TP-link can't arbitrarily decide that "we didn't mean it like that". Consumer laws exist in many countries and States to varying degrees and areas of coverage. In the US, in some States (certainly mine), you cannot make these claims of future features and then simply choose to not deliver them with impunity. These claims, they are designed to assure owners.. but, more importantly and specific to the premise of false advertising,... these are statements made willfully and deliberately to potential buyers with the allure of these valuable features. Sales are driven by the promise of these features. That's why TP-link is making these future-feature statements. To assure prospective buyers that these features are coming to the product, should they purchase it. This is, in it's purest form, advertising. Not providing the features? There is a name for that, too. This isn't that hard to figure out and TP-link doesn't get to make up it's own definitions, interpretations or rules about these things.

Same thing with Onemesh. We were promised that this router was getting Onemesh, so i bought into it thinking it would only be a month or so. Waited 9 months then was told it will never get it. So what's my re-course now? It's not like I can return it to the retailer.

So wait? They pulled the plug on not 1 but 2 features? I think there might be a class action coming.

Yep, they removed both OneMesh and WPA3 since this product seems to be a failure with a lot of complaints.
Feels like cheated and this is my last product from TP-Link.
The only hope, if we can have OpenWRT support then we can at least have WPA3 support.
Fake advertising, False Promises, Disappointed.
