Question in short: C4000 can cover all my needs but would it be too much overkill? Or A7 with RE 200 would be very adequate? (already have RE200)

I need to replace my current router. I have a Xiaomi AC router connected via ethernet to my fiber connection's [30 Mbps] modem and a TP Link RE 200. When I had AirPort Time Capsule it worked great, very stable and with extender covered the whole house.

My needs and preferences:
Must
- Mostly about 10 devices are connected but only 3 are being used actively.
- Coverage is to be for about 70 feet length with concrete walls [dont need it in parking or the lawn]
- Sometimes upto 15-20 devices would be connected with upto 10 active.
Others
- Need USB port [would be great if it is USB 3 and support Time Machine]

- Should support the internet speeds upto 100 Mbps or at least 50 Mbps

I do Netflix / YouTube streaming, file transfers, downloading [especially several devices updating dozens of apps], and obviously web browsing. I haven't done Steam playing yet, but I might, although it is not a huge deal.

@Umair.

All routers mentioned would be able to hand your network requirements. Time Machine is only supported on the C4000 of the three you mentioned: https://www.tp-link.com/us/support/faq/1564/

I do not think the C4000 would be overkill, I think the AX11000 would be.

@Tony So I have bought Archer A9 and I extend it with RE200 wirelessly.

My question is that when I extended my Xiaomi router with RE200, the RE200 added EXT to the SSID it was extending, which meant I could tell which router I was connected to and choose as well. However, with A9, the RE200 is just using the SSIDs of A9 and I cant seem to find a way to distinguish the RE200 SSID from A9.

I want different SSIDs because RE200 can be stubborn and some devices remain connected to it's 2.4G despite being in the A9 room. I have tried smart connect feature, it might be working for iOS devices but not for my 2018 Macbook Air, where I need 5G the most. Hence different SSIDs would be great

@Umair.

I also prefer that setup as well with different SSID as it reduces confusion on what you are connected to.

There are two ways you can go about changing the SSID of the RE200.

1. Log into the router, and see what is the IP of the extender, then enter that IP into your browser (while connected to your Wi-Fi network). The default login is:

Username: admin

Password: admin

2. Download the Tether app on your smartphone, connect to your Wi-Fi, find and connect to the extender, and change the extended SSID.
