@scav

The three PA-9020P that are still installed show version 3.2.4_902101_170628_901 in tpPLC. (Looking at the label on the products involves crawling under furniture and pulling the units out.)  So, my guess is that I have "version 3"?

I have a pair still in the box that say Ver 3.8 on the box.  I get the impression that my firmware release is probably 170628, which means there should be updated firmware on the support web site?  Will look into that.

@CrimpOn

The three units that are still in use report 3.2.4_902101_170-628_901 in the tpPLC utility for "version."  So, maybe these are "Ver 3" PA-9020P's?

I have two still in the box (had big plans for Powerline at one time).

The box shows ver 3.8

So, I guess my units are "version 3"

The most recent firmware on the support web site is 2018-6.  It cannot be newer than the firmware on my existing units because I worked this issue for months back in 2019.

Thanks for the "heads up."

@UnWired

170628 - is latest FW for V1/V2 units,

180511 - is latest FW for V3 units,

acording to tplink support website there was no 170628 fw builld on V3 units.

if you have 170628 that you are on V1 or V2 unit.

I finally crawled under the furniture to look.  My original PA-9020 adapters were purchased in 2017 and say "ver 1" on them.

So, the 4 adapters that are not meeting my expectations are all version 1.  The two that remain "in the box" are ver 3.8, but it would cost me $150 to buy another pair in order to have 4 version 3 adapters.  The Orbi Voice I put in the Garage was only $99 and it extended my "mesh", whereas using my old R7000 over Powerline did not.

Being an "early  adopter" sometimes has consequences.

Thanks again for the accurate advice.
