Model: HS200
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version:

Have instaled couple of HS200 switches they work great truning on/off from Kasa app and setting preset schedules for the day.

I have other switches which are randomly used and I want to set these switches to ' turn off ' after a certain time (e.g. 5,10.15.30 mins) . These switches are in Laundry , Bathroom vanity etc. while we 'turn on' the switch manually but forget to 'turn off' , to conserve electricity I would like to set the swichs to turn off autmatically aftera certain time.

@weasel_atty

If you already own a TP-Link smart switch this feature is available.  In the Kasa App under Smart Actions you will see an auto off timer feature.  This can be set by the minute for a period up to 3 hours.

@Carl

I have wanted this feature for a while as well. I have a small space heater plugged into an HS105. We use the button on the HS105 to turn the heater on and off. I would like to have a timer on the HS105 turn off after a period of time, just in case we forget to turn it off.

My current workaround is a schedule on the switch which turns it off at every :30 minutes. So it switches off at 1:30, 2:30, 3:30, ... This is less than ideal.

The Smart Actions feature auto-off timer should help.  You can set the timer to trigger the plug off to the minute for 1 minute up to 120 minutes.  It only trigger off though so you would still need to trigger the plug on manually or through the app.  If you have a smart switch on your account you should see these features now.  If not you should see them by the end of the year, if current projections hold.

@Carl, thank you. I tried it and it seems to work as desired.

One question. Where are the smart actions stored and processed? Are they on each plug/switch or are the kept and processed on your server? In other words, if my plug loses its network connection, will the smart action for that plug still work?

@NikD63

With our current infromation these Smart Actions are cloud based.  As far as we know at least at this time nothing is stored locally.  This is because except for the auto-off timer every smart actions is the app or one product communicating with another.  we can suggest for the future that the Auto Off timer be locally stored like schedules and away modes are already.

@Carl, yes I think the smart actions could and should be stored locally on the devices if the actions involves a single device. If the smart action involves one device triggering another then it makes sense to keep them in the cloud, or perhaps in the triggering device.

@NikD63

I think at that point it comes down to hardware capabliities.  Since we know the hardware can store schedules already it would make sense to store the auto-off.  I will submit this to the Smart Home team.  Thank you
