HS103 drops WIFI connection and does not reconnect
I bought a pair of HS103 during the black friday sale on Amazon. I don't see the HS103 on your website, but it looks exactly like the HS105. Intermittently (average is once a day) the smart plugs will drop their WIFI connection and will not reconnect. I've seen that other HS105 owners have reported the same problem and I would really like to know if there is a fix in the works. One user reported that the HS105 seems to have an issue with IP renewals which would certainly explain the issue that I am seeing. Anything I can do on my end?

Try to plug at least one of them near the router or in the same room to see if the issue may be with the signal strength.
In the app make sure both plugs are up to date by going into the "Settings" menu.
If the issue is related to the IP being renewed, you can try setting up address reservation in the router. Unfortuatnely, you are not able to set a static address in the plugs.

@ntmeister I have the same problem. Only fix I found was to unplug and replug. Not good solution. What is the latest firmware for the HS103? The HS105 had similar issues that was fixed with a new firmware.

Same problem that comes and goes. I have 2 access points with the same SSID and password. If I reboot access points they have trouble reconnecting to WIFI. I almost always have to go around and unplug and plugin each device to get them to connect.
I have static reservations for each Tp-Link device on my router. All firmware is up to date according to the latest Kasa app. I also get the "Local Only" problem off and on.
Will these devices work on a 20 or 40MHz channel? Does one work better than the other? Devices used to work a lot better than they are now.

@Shavachiva try updating the firmware on your devices. I'm not 100% sure yet but this seems to have made a big difference for mine ... they haven't lost connection since applying the update 2 days ago ... fingers crossed this continues! :)

Same issue here. I installed the latest firmware when I set up the devices a couple weeks ago. Haven't seen an update since, and still experiencing this issue.

@MattBrhymer HS-103 has a defect in the firmware that causes the wifi protocol to be unusual. I don't know what, but I know it knocks my Asus router offline whenever I try to use it. The other TP-Line plugs and switches work, so the HS-103 has a problem. It has different firmware that isn't correct. The Asus has a problem becuase a defect in the signal protocol shouldn't knock it offline, but the HS-103 shouldn't present a defective signal, so they're both wrong. It should be straightforward to track this down since it's very repeatable, but neither company will address it.

@RickA since I switched the router to 20MHz 2.4GHz signal I haven't had the problem anymore. This is an Asus router too.
