TL-WR802N V4 will not connect with iPhone 6S, using the phone as a wifi hotspot
Hardware Version :
Firmware Version :
ISP :
Hardware is TL-WR802N(US) Ver. 4.0
s/n: 2178038000645
f/w is factory installed.
iPhone is 6S running iOS 11.2
iPhone 6S works as a wifi hotspot with 4 other devices with no problem. So the iPhone is not the problem.
The TL-WR802N Nano router will connect with an LG Escape 2 Android phone but not with the iPhone 6S.
On your TL-WR802N download page, there are no f/w updates available.
I've now tried about 50 times with all different configurations after reset, to configure the setup to connect to iPhone 6S with no success. I've tried Hotspot mode and Client mode. Quick setups and manual setups.
TL-WR802N V2 is known to work with iPhone 6 series. What did you change in V4????????
This is definitely a compatibility issue with the firmware in the Nano router and there are 10's of millions of iPhone 6 series phones in service.
How soon can we have this fixed with a f/w update?
Anyone have a workaround for this problem???????????
Frustrated to no end.

It appears you have an EU version, that mean the Frimware won't work becuase it is only for the US. You can find a FW for your version here: https://www.tp-link.com/en/support/download/tl-wr802n/#Firmware Also if you are in another region other than the US I would like to introduce you to our Global Forum community at community.tp-link.com/en as this forum is for US region customers only.
Best Regards

We could not determine any region based on the information you provided below. If you are outside the US region then you will want to use this link: https://www.tp-link.com/en/support/download/tl-wr802n/#Firmware
If you are in the US region use this one: http://support.tp-link.com/f/d01c769084/?dl=1

Please can you help.
I have 3 of the TL-WR802N routers to be used to link to a Draytek Vigor 2862LN as a Failover to a Hotspot on the iPhone 6 or 7S.
The problem I have is that they will connect but only with great difficulty. Once connected they work OK, the problem is getting the connection in the first place.
When the available SSID's are scanned by the TL-WR802N it can take many goes to see the phone and when selected this does not guarantee the Hotspot will connect.
Interestingly with the iPhone 6 the TL-WR802N seems to get the iPhone the MAC address almost right (2n character of MAC is wrong but rest is OK). But the scanned address of the iPhone 7S seems to be completely wrong, Unfortunately at present, I cannot confirm that when they DO connect if the MAC address is correct.
I intend to Use each router to connect to just one specific phone so the MAC adddress should always be the same.
Looking at the Firmware there only seems to be the initial release.
The unit I have are -
V3 TL-WR802N - 3.16.9 Build 160801 Rel .38965n Hardware Version v3 00000000
V2 TL-WR802N - 3.16.9 Build 151231 Rel .53503n Hardware Version v2 00000000
Like I say they will connect some times and when connected performs OK but if the Hot spot is turned off it s=is a struggle to get it to re-connect.
Can you Help?
