I have tested it both ways. It works but slows down from 75 mbps to 10.

How about the speed without the powerline adapters?
The powerline adapters will be affected by other electrical appliance and the electrical environment，sometimes the speed may be not so good.

I'm going to upgrade my router to an AC5400. I think my Airport Extreme may be just to old. The speed was slower at the router than at the modem.
