I am deploying 3 new EAP670 (EU) access points with an OC200 (5.9.32) and have some trouble finding free channels on the 5GHz band.

 

I cannot use the DFS channels because there is very regular radar detected and so the channel is dropped, this is not a good user experience.

 

At this moment I am only able to select the 36, 40, 44 and 48 non-DFS channels, but I am missing the higher non-DFS channels 149, 153, 157, 161, and 165.

Why are these not available? Other brands of access points let the user select these channels, so there should be no legal problem.

Am I missing something?

 

Also it would be very convenient if the AI WLAN Optimization could be configured not to use some selected channels, or skip all the DFS channels. For now I cannot use the AI WLAN Optimization (channel optimization) because it always configures the access points to use DFS channels.

There's really no point going past ch.128 in Europe...you are severely limited in radio power above this (25mW is basically the RF equivalent of a mouse fahrt).  SRD stands for 'short range device' in case you thought it was something cool.

 

You can see this for yourself, Wikipedia has a great page, an excerpt of which is below (EU is the last column, I've circled in red)

  @-RB-  I'm using the higher channels on my 670 (US model, ch 153/80mhz ch width, beta firmware and software controller) without issue.  Never tried the DFS channels.

APs: EAP225v3, EAP245v3, EAP670, Controller: Linux, Primary Switch: T2600-28TS, Routing: OPNsense

apply 80mhz and check the channel again? will it be different?

i am referring to your screenshot to what I learned, it's 20mhz center freq. 

band 4 is for outdoor dfs only in eu. tplink does not support band 4 for indoor eap.
