Model: EAP225-Outdoor
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 5.0.5

When I analyze the EAP225 wifi signal before connecting I can see that the 5ghz is almost at -90dBm - so low.

I am testing two 5g adapters - pc and usb. I can move the usb to get a stronger signal from the EAP225.

When I connect with the pc (pc device settings set to prefer 5 g (was on auto previously)) it, annoyingly, continues to connect on 2.4ghz and the 5ghz signal remains around -90 dBm

But when I connect with the usb (device settings on auto) it connects on 5ghz and all of a sudden the signal strength changes to -40dBm ... and also the signal strength of the 2.4ghz seems to improve as well !

Can someone explain what's going on here for me?

@Bebe1980 If your EAP works in standalone mode, you can modify the wireless parameters of EAP, or set different SSID for 2.4G and 5G networks. If your EAP is working in controller mode, you can consider turning on the band steering function.

@Yannie

Thanks - I'll have a look and give it a try...

OK - it works... I connect using wifi 5 not wifi 4 ...but my rx/tx go down to 9mbps!

Hehehe... but at least I now know why the USB works so well... I'd completely forgotten that I only have one pc radio extension wire ... 5 meters long and connected to 2.4ghz as I was previously only testing the eap110 :) ...

The pc is tucked away in a corner under my desk so the 5ghz radio only gets a weak signal there - I'll pull it out later and change it over.
