you have to add the DNS record yourself. you can find it under network and LAN
Yes, I'm already doing that, however unless you can associate a name with a MAC address instead of an IP address, leaving aside the fact that it's a major PITA, it doesn't work for devices with dynamic IP addresses assigned by DHCP.

Ah, i didnt spot this (did you just add that?)
Thats a shame. But not unexpected, it is a somewhat limited device. Will it be getting IDS in controller mode at some point?

No. The other day, when I posted this, I had already noted this:

Did you specify a domain name in the Omada controller? There's a setup guide.
https://github.com/dougbw/coredns_omada/blob/main/docs/getting-started.md
To me, the best thing about this is it's not simply resolving names/IPs for DHCP clients, it resolves to the "friendly" names you give the clients in Omada which is FAR better.

@SingletrackMind , yes, I gave it my domain name. I might have to run it with the debug option turned on and see what is going on.

Well, that's what my 10 year old FreshTomato router used to do with a basic config.
Someone is offering me a ER707 V1 router and I'm pondering whether I should upgrade the ER605. I know there's no LAN DNS release for this yet, but I would imagine one is coming soon. Any thoughts?
Cheers

I am getting some strange CPU utilization on one of my ER605 v2's with this firmware
This is my router at home, that only does 2 things.
1) connects to main site via VPN and allows me IT level access to everything
2) Serves my home network of laptop and phone (i live alone)
Between 11am and 3pm I was out, laptop was off and phone with me. It should have been completely idle. Same for 11pm to 7am, i was asleep.
This site has very little complexity - a basic WAN IN ACL block (just one rule) preventing some of the remote site LANs getting in, no DPI, no URL filtering, no bandwidth controls or static routing - nothing that i can see that accounts for this
All i have wired on this network is a Archer AX73 in access point mode serving my wifi.
I have done a factory reset and re-adopt, and a manual firmware re-flash
site backup of just this one attached
All my other ER605 v2's running this firmware are fine. its just this one.
I havent made any config changes since updating the firmware to 2.3.0, was previously on 2.2.6 same config, no weird CPU use.
To compare, is is another one of my 605s running this firmware with a much more complex network (has a switch, 2 APs, DHCP reservations, DPI, NAT, ACL rules etc etc)

Same problem on one of the kids' router, it has some traffic as he has a camera server that I stream to via VPN (about 40Mbps), previously the CPU was at 3-10% VPN speed is also about half of what it was with the 2.2.6 version. I haven't downgraded because it seems to work, the problem is the same whether I have traditional site to site or SD-WAN, no difference

interesting!, yours is much more messed up than mine! do you have any other 605's that are showing normal CPU like i do ?

It's probably because I stream some cameras via VPN. It's about 40Mbps 24/7, but there's never been any problems. I have another ER605 in a LAB, there's only a raspberry pi on that network so it's not being used for anything other than SD-WAN now
