Can't access the config interface from my Switch TL-SG108E (SOLVED)

Model: TL-SG108E
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version:

I cannot find a way to configure my Switch TL-SG108E using the TP-Link interface.

All my devices connected to the switch do work, however with only 100mbs, instead of 1GB. So i wanted to check the settings at the interface in order

  • I tried using the Easy Smart Configuration tool and it can't locate my switch.
  • I tried using the steps from this video: https://youtu.be/x-Pq27fDfLc?si=nA9Cp1DKevtYVvLP
I found the IP from the Switch, however I get a ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED

(maybe I just never found the IP from the switch, and it just does not show anywhere. I was able to find the IP from a camera device (CCTV Camera), and the IP from a Access Point I have, called EAP110. But the IP from the switch is just not on my list)

I saw at some places on the internet telling me that I need to set my IP to static, and the I can configure my switch. I don't know if I did it correctly, because after I got it all set up, the IP to the switch got the ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED just like before (or maybe I got the wrong IP, I don't know).

Can anyone help me? Do I need to provide more info?

  @D-C

I realized my version is not the E version.
It is the one without E: TL-SG108
Does it have the UI too?

I dont even know how to reset to factory. There is a small hole but nothing to click inside. No button to turn it on or off.

My PC can handle 1000mb, so it shouldn't be getting only 100. A nootbook I have also only receives 100.
A cable connected to the modem gives me 1000mb when connected to my pc. But If I connect the same cable to the switch->pc, it goes down to 100, so its not the cable.

edit: Ok, I did other testing and I learned it is indeed the cables.
There is complex "web" of cables in my home and it was hard to test with certainty and I was testing it wrong.
Thanks for the help anyway

Hi @MemoriesLP,

Defaults on ports should be auto negotiation.  The specs for EAP110 show that it only supports 100Mbps.  Other devices such as IP cameras and smart TVs commonly use just 100MB connections.  If those devices are showing 100Mbps, I think that would be normal.  Laptops, desktops and most other network switches/routers support 1GB, so if those are showing 100Mbps links that's not what I would expect to see (assuming you're using a good cat5 or better cable).

Regarding access the UI, you could try power cycling the switch and if necessary, resetting to factory defaults.

Reset steps are in this post: https://community.tp-link.com/en/home/forum/topic/167506?replyId=347136

@MemoriesLP the "e" version is the Easy Smart flavor with the UI.  Glad you're back to full speed.
