Custom ddns
Hi,
Custom DDNS does not work in this model if I use https
Could it be the DNS provider SSL cert causing problems? svc dot joker dot com
I put a update url, and entered a new entry with my password, username domain etc.
Service status stayed at offline. Using the same URL and pasting to browser with correct username and password it updated the hosts ip address in joker dot com
So question is not wrong URL.
I gave up using the ER707-M2 to do my updates and wrote my own script to do the update for me running on a linux server. It's also emails me if the ip address changes and if the dns updates are successful or not. Yes I could have used ddclient.
Then I thought maybe the ER707-M2 doesn't like https in the update url , changed to http and it worked fine. I see in Service Status nochg and my ip address.
I don't want to send my username and password in plain text
Why can't it use https?
Thanks in advance if someone knows the answer.

Hi @ScottA
Thanks for posting in our business forum.
With this link, are you sure that it is the router does not like the HTTPS?
Some providers offers HTTP instead of HTTPS. We have some tested URLs.

Yes I tested with identical URL one with https and http
with https the Service Status stays at offline, change to http and it updates to the DNS register and shows the response under Service Status.
joker dot come states it uses https and older models might only use http .... that's how I got the idea to try http

Have you tested this with your modem? Or a different router? Is 443 allowed by your ISP?

I tested to a webserver using at first http and also https I saw in access logs my attempts.
Saved the joker dot com update URL again and now it starts to work with https
The original update url was 100% correct I had copied pasted to browser and I got response back from joker dot com.
