Model: ER706W
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.0.4

Hi! I am having an ER706W, but guess this is still a wifi and not a router topic: I am trying to set up another SSID to use two VLAN, but my new SSID is not showing up...

My goal is to have separete VLANs (us / our tenants). The first (default) Wifi has as well wired devices, the new network currently only wifi, but that might change.

Steps I did:

- Created new SSID in controller's WLAN settings, with VLAN ID 2. Of course SSID Broadcast is enabled, SSID is "test", 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz enabled. Set to EAP (maybe I should have enabled "Gateway" as well?). No wired devices are in this group, should I still set up a LAN, and if yes, "Interface" or "VLAN"? The later does not allow a separate IP range, which in the end I don't really care as long as the devices don't see each other... (which might mean I need Interface?)

- The first/default SSID works, has no VLAN ID in the wifi settings. This has a LAN setup, "Interface" type, and VLAN ID1 (which I cannot enter at the WLAN settings, but I guess I should?) This default network has also devices wired to the router.

- Both above SSIDs are in the same group "default"

Looking at the ER706W in Config -> WLANs, only my default WLAN shows up and is enabled, the new one "test" does not show.

Also, scanning for SSIDs does not show this new one. What am I missing?

Hi @antondd,

In the Edit Wireless Network setup, the Device Type needs to have "Gateway" checked if used on a router and "EAP" check to use it on an Access Point.  Once created, you can't edit the setting so you will need to re-create it with the appropriate value, which would be Gateway to use it on the ER706W.

@antondd,

I think steps 1-3 in this doc should cover what you need. You actually did step #4 already, but that's not a problem.  The doc covers a more complex scenario, so don't let the intial diagram scare you.

  @D-C Thanks, that was it! Now it shows up! But it doesn't have internet access, I guess I need to give this new VLAN2 somehow access to WAN? Would I need to create an entry in LAN as well, with the same VLAN ID?

  @D-C Thanks! Yeah, I had looked into the LAN menu to add one before, but thought I don't need it since I don't had any wired connection, and it says I need to select a port. So now I selected the unused SFP port to set it up. I guess it should be also possible to do this without selecting a physical port in my case where the router is a wifi AP in one?

I don't think the physical port assignment would be a requirement for your setup.

I thought so too, but I couldn't save the settings without it and got an error message...
