How can I configure DoH (DNS over HTTPS) and DoT (DNS over TLS) on my ER7212PC router? I cannot find the option anywhere on my router settings.

Hi @OZ-ZERO

Thanks for posting in our business forum.
I recall ER7212PC does not support such a feature.

This is the path to find the DNS proxy setting.

  @Clive_A

That is very, very disappointing. Even some basic (non-Omada) TP-Link routers allow DoH/DoT yet this 'business' router lacks such an important function.

At present my setup is the following:

Internet modem -> ER7212PC -> TL-SG3428MP -> Wired devices + Wireless access points

What device do I need to add to my system to allow DoH/DoT or the 'DNS Proxy' page?

it is because the ER7212PC is very under powered, you must have at least a hardware or software controller and one of the routers. as I have understood the ER7212PC has reached its limit so it may be a good idea to replace it.

  @MR.S

Which gigabit router can I use to replace my ER7212PC and which controller do I need?

Furthermore, can I continue to use my existing ER7212PC for it's POE+ capabilities (i.e. connected to the 'new' router)?

Does the ER605 feature 'DNS Proxy'? And is it a better router than the ER7212PC? One thing about the ER7212PC which I like is how reliable it has been. Not a single connection error since owning for 1.5 years.

ER605 is probably a faster router than the one you have. so it should work. you can install the controller on a pc or a raspberry pi, I run the controller on an old pc.

so if you have something lying around you can use it.

you can also buy an OC200 which also has too little horsepower in my opinion, so I would buy an OC300 if I were to have a hardware controller.

you can't use the router you have as a switch, but if you just need a small cheap switch you can use an SG2008P or an ES205GP.

but if you have an old pc then try using that first as a controller.

The painful truth is that, as MR.S wrote, it hit the bottleneck after recent firmware upgrades.

It might be hard to see more features on this model especially for the heavy performance features.

The system will leave certain space for redundancy, it cannot be filled up with the minor features even though they seem to not take much space or performance.

  @MR.S

So connecting an ER7212PC to a ER605 would not work?

Very frustrating at how many items I must purchase just to enable such a simple feature such as DNS Proxy.

Here was my proposed solution (I don't know if this will work)

Internet modem -> ER605

ER605- >TL-SG3428MP v4.0 -> EAP and wired ethernet

ER605 -> ER7212 -> 2x POE EAP610

ER605 -> TL-SG116P -> and wired ethernet

this will work
ER605- >TL-SG3428MP v4.0 -> EAP and wired ethernet
then you need a controller

Will the ER7212 simply not work if connected to the ER605?
