Vigi camera causing constant disk activity on NAS drive
Hi.
I have a C340 camera setup with basic motion detection within a defined area of the image (ie any movement in that area should trigger a record event).
I am using the live stream out to my QNAP NAS with the Surveillance Station APP on the NAS to serve as a recorder. On this the even manager is activated to "Start Recording when motion is detected by camera"
I also have to define record time before and after the detected event - which I have set as the minimum of 10 seconds.
This all works, and I end up with timestamped folder system on the NAS that has video files that relate to activity in front of the camera.
The only issue is that the NAS HDDs are constantly writing, I presume to enable the record 10 seconds before option.
The NAS is for general use (as well as security cam recording) so is an archive drive, time machine drive, etc. I'd prefer not to have the HDD constantly active - as well as shortening the lifespan it also slows down the transfer rates when I am using the NAS for other activities.
Is there any way around this? The issue at the moment seems to be that I can't select an "alarm" activated record trigger (ie motion detection) without having pre-record selected as well.
Thanks
Ben
