Specific wireless clients cannot connect to EAP613
Hi all,
I recently upgraded some of my EAPs, specifically I replaced 3 EAP225 v.3 with 1xEAP653 and 2xEAP613. One of the first things I noticed is that two specific devices, an Airport Express Gen 2 (model A1392), as well as my brand new Nuki Smart Lock 4 PRO do not connect to the EAP613's, but connect fine to the EAP653! My settings are the same for all access points. I do not have problems with any of the other (many) devices connecting to any of the access points. It seems that these two devices see the networks, try to connect but fail. If I move them within the range of the EAP653 (or any of my older EAP225 ones), they happily connect.
Has anyone faced anything similar?

Could you check the encryption you have set up for these EAP? Could you try to disable the WPA3 and see whether the affected devices will be able to connect or not?

I was able to get the Airport Express to connect to the EAP613, on a different Wifi network, which has the following differences, compared to my main one:
- PMF is disabled (vs. Capable on my main network)
- 802.11r is disabled
- WPA Mode is "WPA/WPA2-PSK/Auto" (vs. "WPA/WPA2-PSK/AES" on my main network)
So one of these settings somehow does not allow the Airport Express to connec to the EAP613, where as it connects fine to the EAP653.

It's hard to say, but from my experience it looks like encrytion AES took the effect.
Once you choose Auto, the EAP can also support TKIP.
Airport Express is a good product, it's a pity Apple stops supporting it for a long time.

@Fae OK, I've pinpointed the problem to 802.11r. My test scenario is this:
- I have locked my Airport Express to two specific APs: an EAP653 and an EAP613 (to rule out the device trying to connect to other EAPs from different floors).
- I disabled 802.11r on my Wifi network; the Airport Express connects fine to both APs
- I enabled 802.11r on my Wifi network; the Airport Express only connects to the EAP653
Obviously, there's something implemented differently between the two units, with regards to 802.11r.
