Model: EAP610
Hardware Version: V3
Firmware Version:

A single 610v3 can be 'AI optimized' by the controller, but after adding another one as mesh, both automatically got added to the exclusion list... wonder what's the deal why AI optimization doesn't work for omada mesh that's wirelessly connected? This is weird because Decos have optimization as wireless mesh...

Simple answer is that if the Meshed AP was to optimise and change channel, it would lose the uplink to the root mesh.   It therefore has to be kept on the same channel as the Root to allow communication.

Deco is a tad different as you will only ever have one root (the Main Deco) therefore all nodes are on the same channel, its a single channel architecture.  When its optimised it changes all devices to the same channel.   However in Omada, you could have 3x roots, serving 3x upstream mesh APs, on 3x separate channels therefore the Root devices cannoy be optimised, they will then keep connection to the mesh APs.

Hope that makes sense!

Does that inply that for EAPs to be able to optimize they should be wired?

Yes..   So far all the APs that I have installed that are wired direct, namely not a root or mesh node, can be optimised.
