Model: TL-SG3428
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version: 2.0.1 Build 20210131 Rel.44230

Hello ,

My name is onur yoldas , from company Entegra Communications from Turkey.

We use TL-SG3428 switches for our customers networks.

We prefer these switches because it has got bandwidth features on their ports.

But we try to configure these ports from bandwidth section however it works successfully on download side but it does not work on upload side.

What i try to explain is , the port capacity is 1Gbps. We enter 409600 kbps to Ingress Rate and 409600 kbps to egress rate .

when we start to use it and test we see that download capacity is as limited 400mbps which is equal to 409600kbps as entered under ingress port config.

But upload bandwidth can not pass 15mbps which is not smilar to  409600kbps which is entered to egress rate.

so we can not utilize the port speed as 400mbps because upload bandwidth rate is not working properly , it limits ports working capacity because it limits itself at 15mbps.

our clients are not happy and we can not solve this problem.

can you please lead us in order to solve problem or how to set up bandwidth features properly.

Regards,

Dear @entegra,

The new firmware TL-SG3428(UN)_V2_2.0.9 Build 20221021 has Improved the performance of Ingress Bandwidth Control. And the current latest firmware is TL-SG3428(UN)_V2_2.0.10 Build 20221130.

For your case, it's suggested to upgrade the latest firmware 2.0.10 for better performance.

Here is the official link for the firmware download.

Or you can also follow this direct download link for the firmware: TL-SG3428(UN)_V2_2.0.10 Build 20221130

  @entegra

What will happen if you disable the bandwidth control on the switch?

Basically the switch only limit the speed on Layer 2, it's not the Internet speed.

Hello sommon,

thank you very much for your reply.

we are an internet service provider company in Turkey. We use these switches on our clients buildings and offices for metro ethernet services.

In some buildings we have more than one clients. In this building we have 3 different clients and we need to share total bandwidth to our 3 different clients.

we dont make rate limit on ip adresses on switches which means we dont use as layer 3 bandwidth control.

On cisco or some hp switches we write access lists and appy bandwidth rules on this access list rules . This is something layer 3 config.

On this TP link switch , Bandwidth section is under qos services and we make bandwidth limit under ports .

Example of port 1 we limit rate limit 400mbps/400mps upload and download.

on port 2 we limit bandwidth to 200mbps/200mbps .

so that basicly we are using this bandwidth config on layer 2 which means under switchports.

can you please explain me how can we utilize and how can we use bandwitdh feature on this switch ?

Our problem is rate limit under a switch port work properly ingress side but it doesnt work on egress side on switch .

Regards,
