@Somnus  Thanks, that makes sense, the BT wholehome channels offered on 5ghz are 36 40 44 and 48. I'm trying now to find the range for the CPE710 (just re-read, i see you answered that for me). My router does have DFS channels, so will try them, but that is more for my own curiosity, not a practical option for the set up. Thanks for the reply, looks like i'm ordering a second CPE710

On a side note : If I run the cpe210 as an AP / CL pair, I soon reach the tx and rx limits of 300 in the status, if I use 1 cpe210 CL with the BTWholehome disk as AP, the TX and RX rate pretty much halves to around 150. Is that a setting I should change to make the pair work together better, or just the way it is?

tx and rx rate depends on actually environment, and the performance of the BTWholehome disk.

CPE210 supports 300Mbps in maximum, but anyway the Ethernet port of this CPE is just 100M. So even 150M on wireless link speed should be good enough.

Also is the (UN) firmware the correct version for the UK (was expecting (EU) or even (UK) )

CPE710 EU version only supports DFS channels 100-140.

 

That means if your AP also can use these DFS channels, then CPE710 should be able to work with it.

  @Somnus  Thank you so much for pointing this out. I was simply told it cant be done. I knew something had to be up because the Wavlink APs connected without issue.

I do have another question.  My in place CPE710 channel is set to AUTO and it is greyed out and I cannot figure out how to set it manually. So what I did is looked at the stat page and found what channel it was currently operating on, which was 161. I manually set the 5ghz channel on the EAP225 to 161 and sure enough the CPE710 now finds it in the Survey.

So my question is since the CPE710 is in auto and I cant seem to figure out how to set it manually, do I risk it switching channels and in turn losing connection with the EAP225?  Also is there a downside to manually setting the channel on EAP225. I just had left it at auto since I figured it would choose the best one.

Thanks again for your input. You have already saved me tons of trial and error in sourcing a different AP.  Also I have posted in other forums and people inquired as to why I use CPE710s in a small area rather than Mesh. I found that with the CPE710s, the clients connected to the various access points get rock solid full bandwidth of the ISP.  The EAP225 in mesh would get just a fraction of that.

If you are using CPE710 as Client Mode, then it will only use the same channel as the main AP.

I don't think there is any downside to manually set up channel on EAP225. Basically all channels are the same. Just some rules/policy made the limitation. For example channel 161 is good to use in US, but may not be allowed in EU etc.
