Good morning

I have to use public wifi network (SSID with password) inside my home with different SSID
I install a CPE210 outside my home, connected by cable with a tplink router. I connect cpe210 LAN cable to router WAN port.
I've some trouble configuring cpe210 and the tplink router.

I think to use cpe210 as client router and tp link routes as router or access point.

Do you think it could be correct ? if yes what is the configuration in detail ? (IP, gateway, DNS, etc ?)

Thanks in advance

  @Solchiere

Yes it can work. However I think there are many things you may need to concern.

1, The CPE210 should be set up as Client mode;

2, That public wifi should only use password to secure. CPE won't support Portal authentication;

3, The tplink router can be set up as Router mode, but it must have a different LAN IP subnet from the public wifi. (for example if public wifi is 192.168.0.1/24, then tplink router need to use a different one like 192.168.2.1/24)

  @Somnus
Hi,

thasks for reply, it's very useful for me.

1, The CPE210 should be set up as Client mode;

Ok, i select client mode.
I've some trouble due to "bad gateway", but i'll retry.

2, That public wifi should only use password to secure. CPE won't support Portal authentication;

Yes it is....

3, The tplink router can be set up as Router mode, but it must have a different LAN IP subnet from the public wifi. (for example if public wifi is 192.168.0.1/24, then tplink router need to use a different one like 192.168.2.1/24)

It's a very useful suggest !

So, in the outdoor cpe210

-> client mode (wisp enabled)

-> Survey public wi-fi and lock

-> LAN static IP 192.168.0.x subnet

(for example, IP address: 192.168.0.100 and subnet mask: 255.255.255.0).

In tplink router

-> Router mode

-> connect wan to cpe210

-> if i use different static ip how can this router connect to cpe ?
I do not understant this....

thanks

  @Solchiere The Router LAN IP must be different from the WAN IP subnet, and the router WAN IP comes from CPE/public wifi automatically.

Consider your CPE is just a "Modem" for the router.

BTW if you configure the CPE correctly, you should have signal LEDs turn to green.

And then you can start to configure the router. If there is no IP conflict, basically all router already have Dynamic IP as WAN connection type so it should be plug&play.\

I try to find some guide about the router, but you need to make your "Modem" (CPE) work first.

What should I do if I cannot access the internet through Wi-Fi router
