Model: TL-ER6120
Hardware Version: V3
Firmware Version: 2020313 rel 47458

Er6120 configuration
V3.02 Build 2020313 Rel 47458

I have 2 internet providers.
Both are static ip.

Only one is currently connected at a time.

Both hand out the same ip address range.

I unplug the dead connection and plug in the working one.

Internet is available on whatever modem is plugged in.

When I connect the ER6120.

Wan1 is set to my 1G connection.
Wan2 is set to my backup dsl connection.
All dhcp on both wan1 and wan2 is set to 8.8.8.8 and 1.1.1.1.
Both Wans show they are connected.
Network Dhcp is set to 192.168.1.2-254.
Lan is connected to my Laptop.

Laptop is set to pick up an ip address.
I am picking up an ip address of 192.168.1.170.
I have no internet access.
I can reach the er6120 on 192.168.1.1.

I currently have both modems set to hand out addresses on 192.168.1.2-254.

I can connect to either modem and get internet access by plugging directly into the laptop.

Do I need to turn off dhcp on the modems and let the ER6120 handle it?

If not do I need to set the modems to the same or different ip ranges?

I wish to use the er6120 as a failover device.
Wan1 will be primary.
Wan2 will be secondary.

Link backup is set to wan1 to wan2 - backup when primary fails and active.

Online detection shows both wan port status as offline.

I have set them as both automatic and manual to ping the static ip.

The still both show offline either way.

  Dear @gjunk ,

The Modem need to be bridge mode (so the tplink router can obtaion a public IP), or at least use a different subnet from the router.

You mentioned you have modems set to hand out addresses on 192.168.1.2-254, then the tplink router will not able to obtain IP from your modem.

This article is not for Omada router but also suitable for your reference: https://www.tp-link.com/uk/support/faq/1556/

Online detection you may set Manually and put in 8.8.8.8 as the ping address. If it shows offline, means your router actually does not have Internet access

  @gjunk

I set modem 1 to bridge mode with the internal lan set to 192.168.1.1 and the er6120 lan to 192.168.1.1-254.

It works but bridge mode turns off my wifi which I need to keep on.

I need to hand out ips in the 192.168.1.1-254 range.

Is there a way to do this without bridge mode.
