Same for me (linux based controller) and please and leave possibility to rename but with reminder of this name. Idealy table with MAC Address and also with possibility to set IP address. And all these possibility even for non connected devices - just specify MAC. Now I had to change name every time the device is disconnected for e.g. a day

Dear @Libik,
At present, the alias won't be saved on the Controller once the clients are disconnected, so you will need to reconfigure the alias for the clients once they are connected to the network again. The developer team will modify the Alias function in Omada SDN 5.0.

Hello,
Thank you for your Answer. Do you know any time when could v5 be released? months, year?

It would be convenient to be able to upload a csv of "mac, alias,ip" to set multiple clients in one action.

It would be also very helpful, if the Username could be resolved over the Router, so that it would be possibel to reach a appliance in the LAN by name.
I.e. mynas instead of 192.168.3.345

Another way would be to get these local names from DNS registrations of local hosts to a DNS service in the gateway and from static DNS mapping in the gateway for non-DHCP hosts.
This could be implemented in a relatively simple way, similar to the 'hosts' file functionality in Linux and LMHOSTS in Windows. Or to implement some very lightweight DNS resolver for local LAN clients - like unbind, dsmasq etc.
Maybe you could have a look at the posts suggesting to implement some lightweigh DNS service for local LANs only - posted by me in OmadaSDN subforum and by another user in the "Requests and suggestions" forum.
This would really help to have local DNS, not only for these "client names" - but also also for those Small / Medium networks who need local DNS service for hosts in the local LAN, not only for Internet adresses.
By the way, I see that Omada is getting better and better. Hope this suggestion could help to improve it further.
Cheers :)
