Implemented mDNS Service
Hello I was wondering in Omada where I can find the mDNS service ?
I have a TL-R605 router but some IoT devices (especially the once that use Apple HomeKit) do not work or better are unreachable when I put them in a different subnet using VLANs, this is very annoying.
Looking on internet everyone many tutorial (all made on Ubiquiti or sometimes other routers) explain that mDNS repeater is needed, but can't find it in Omada anywhere.
Or eventually is there a workaround or non explicit way to have this done ?
Thanks

Dear @NeoCZ,

How does it look with mDNS repeater, do you have any release date for firmware / Omada version supporting this?
Sorry that I don't have the ETA for supporting the mDNS repeater. All I know is that the R&D team is working on the firmware, which will be released once it's done and tested well. I'll update this post once there is a new firmware released for the Omada Router, so stay tuned!

@Kaktus317 simply running on a spare pc I have that works much better because much more powerful than any box hardware

or if you want garanteed compatibility with pfsens or opnsense get a protectli i7 or a HUNSN I7 x86 router bot have genuine intel chips and hardware offload works and all other offloading and the HUNSN even has a mini pci for a quectel lte card and a sim slot onboard and you can even put on a tpm 2.0 if you a little technically inclined
beats the awful router from tplink hands down

Hi All,
FYI, the mDNS repeater will be added on Controller v5.6, probably released on October this year.
I'll keep you informed once there is more new information came up. Thanks for your attention and great patience!

a little late you probably lost a bunch of customers i for one tossed that router out and replaced it with a opnsense appliance no issues since
and their support actually knows something about the product they selling and wireguard works like a charm and the router has no dropped packets unlike your product that
drops a few packets here and there randomly
shame on tplink

A few Pakets?
I have almost 500 log alerts!
Also @fae it was supposed to be implemented Q2, now "probably" Q4. What does Tplink and you think? That the customers are a bunch of idiots? I would never recommend this company again.

i turned all that junk off i'm talking real packet loss not false detections it got so bad that i was forced to get rid of the router not only because of missing features
opnense'd it no more packet loss no more laggy outgoing connections and best of all no more alerts that are not even legit
