Implemented mDNS Service
Hello I was wondering in Omada where I can find the mDNS service ?
I have a TL-R605 router but some IoT devices (especially the once that use Apple HomeKit) do not work or better are unreachable when I put them in a different subnet using VLANs, this is very annoying.
Looking on internet everyone many tutorial (all made on Ubiquiti or sometimes other routers) explain that mDNS repeater is needed, but can't find it in Omada anywhere.
Or eventually is there a workaround or non explicit way to have this done ?
Thanks

I think I will replace my ER7206 with an appliance running pfSense or OPNsense. Somehow it doesn't look like progress on this feature. On top I can't get IPTV running (German Telekom MagentaTV) despite the special IPTV-Feature in the last updates.
Though I really like the Omada Controller as a one stop solution for all network settings, but with two essential features missing/not working I have to move on. But if I have to add new switches: Now I am not limited to TP-Link anymore.

@Fae
+1 mDNS
We are new Omada owner, we need IoT network segmentation with mDNS to allow discovery and communication between those devices and those on our primary network. I think this function should be available on any device tagged for business.
I hope it's a matter of time before the feature is available.
Thank you
Alex

keep the posts alive.
Q2 is almost over and still no other update then a promise for a mDNS added feature in the 5.2 release that should still be released in Q2 ^^
I am thinking about swaping hardware for a other brand.......

@Dannyz. Well I gave up for TP-Link after requests, zero support, I understand they are amateur.
I switched to pfSense a real router and a real firewall, TL-R605 is switched off. Sooner I will replace switch and access points.
end of the story, really an embarrassing company and business approach, come in EU or US and learn the way!
bye bye

@Xstreem Did the same last weekend. Replaced my ER7206 with an pfSense-Router. Setup took a bit longer as with Omada but everything works now: mDNS over multiple Subnets and IPTV with German Telekom. But I will keep my TP-Link-Switches and Access Point. They work without trouble for me. Though I am not restricted to TP-Link in case auf expansion or replacement. Any managed switch supporting IGMPv3 and VLANs will do for me.

@Maniacintosh yes I can keep the switch and Ap but the thing is now personal and tp-link doesn't deserve anymore my attention and money, never more

Right lets say what they think is an "Update" in reality its worthless junk
i've still got problems with packet loss too tp-link router drops packets pfsense does not it got so far that i got called up that the internet dropped multiple times a day
pfsense has no packet loss
i'm going to replace all the tplink-junk slowly with something decent

How does it look with mDNS repeater, do you have any release date for firmware / Omada version supporting this?
