Model: EAP245
Hardware Version: V3
Firmware Version: 2.4.0

I've found band steering with the Omada controller and EAP245s to be quite wanting. Obviously, this depends a lot on the client device, but there could be improvements with the EAP firmware/Omada controller.

For example, despite having an RSSI in the -50s, my iPhone XR will insist on connecting to the 2.4GHz network (which is congested and has interference). There should be some settings for band steering around enabling the controler to force or prefer compatible devices to connect to the 5GHz network.

@JeremyHiggs, first of all, -50dBm is a very good signal quality. A client will not change bands if the RSSI is -50dBm. Secondly, band steering does not depend on RSSI, but solely on number of clients connected to an AP. If you want to force your iPhone to connect to 5 GHz only, use different SSIDs for 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz.
