Model: EAP245
Hardware Version: V3
Firmware Version:

Hi,

I have set up 2 EAPs succesfully, and I can see them both in the omada app and the web interface (http://tplinkeap.net/). I can manage then both separately. Both are connected and setup via an ethernet cable, connected to my router (standard router of Orange, internet provider).

For now I created

  1. EAP one: 2.4 Ghz network, Guest network, 5 Ghz network
  2. EAP two: 2.4 Ghz network, 5 Ghz network

My goal is that both EAPs connect in some way to eachother so that

  • all settings (most importantly SSID) are always in sync (now I created all passwords etc twice)
  • devices automatically connect to the strongest network via seamless roaming

How do I do that? I looked into different manuals but don't seem to find the solution,

Thanks for your support,

Bert

@Bhendrickx88, you need Omada controller if you want to configure two or more EAPs synchronously or to use seamless roaming. I'm not sure whether EAP245 firmware supports seamless roaming yet, since I don't have this model, but to use seamless roaming with EAP225 models you need a controller running all the time. Either deploy the software controller on a server or consider to use an OC200.

@R1D2

I've the EAP245v3's and they do support fast/seamless roaming.

With an OC200, I can manage everything via the app without the need to install any other software, right? Can I just plug in the oc200 somewhere or does it need to be placed in between my router (from the internet provider) and the EAPs?

@Bhendrickx88

Correct. With the OC200 you don't even need the APP to control things. You can login to the OC200 GUI via a standard web browser.

Yes, you can connect it anywahere behind the router. Just a note though, OC200 needs PoE to power up and doesn't come with a PoE injector. So make sure to plug it into a PoE port of your switch.

@AsankaG, OC200 can be powered using a standard USB power supply too, if no PoE switch is available.
