@grayb not sure what you mean with »Client does not work«.

CPEs are for P2P links, this means yes, you usually connect the CPE operating in AP mode to a router (or a switch) and the CPE operating in Client mode to a computer (or a switch). See the Operation Mode diagram for an AP ↔ Client setup below from the fine manual:

@grayb, you can set up the CPEs in your office using one PC.

The Client CPE already did connect to the AP CPE according to your first screenshot. The AP's web UI shows »Connected stations: 1« in the Radio Status section.

You can use the IPs 192.168.0.253 and .254 if you want. I would assign IPs according to the IP range of the network so that the web UI can be reached anytime when the CPEs are finally deployed (if your network uses 192.168.0.0 too, the IPs already fit very well, but if your network uses some other network IP, say, 192.168.1.0, then set the CPEs to 192.168.1.253 and .254 resp.).

Settings could be optimized somewhat:

• Use 802.11n-only as WiFi mode to have the two CPEs pair a bit faster.
• Use a channel bandwidth of 20 MHz for the 2.4 GHz frequency band (it's often overcrowded, so 20 MHz will grant a better experience).
• Set Distance to »Auto« or to 0.05 km or 0.1 km, but not 1 km for only 50m.

After configuration, connect the AP CPE to your network or router and connect the Client CPE to your PC for a quick test.

Put the CPEs on the floor and align their fronts to each other. Try to align them exactly, it will speed up wireless synchronisation. Now you can test the link with the PC by logging into the web UI of both CPEs and by pinging your router, surfing the Internet etc.

If the link then works, deploy the CPEs outdoors at your house and at the CCTV cam's location. Connect the CCTV cam via cable to the Client CPE and connect the AP CPE to your network (or vice versa, this doesn't matter).

Note that the LEDs indicating a good wireless signal will only show the signal quality on the Client CPE, not on the AP CPE. You can also use the built-in Antenna Alignment Tool (see menu »Tools«) to get the best alignment between the CPEs. Of course, you will probably need several tries at each location to find the best aligned position. First align the Client, then the AP, then fine-adjust the Client, next the AP and so on until you get the best result.

@grayb, if you use DHCP for assigning IPs to your cams, you should find a list of assigned IPs in the DHCP section of your router.

Personally, I don't use DHCP for any stationary device, but only static IPs.
