Model: EAP245
Hardware Version: V3
Firmware Version: 2.2.0 Build 20190530 Rel. 56122

Hello

I have 66.66% errors. on the 5 GHZ

It feels more than a software bug than that interference in the air....

From the manual:

There could have been a little more explaining in the manuel..

I believe a tx drop to be no buffer available to tx the packet due to other packets currently being send.

Tx Error interference is causing a problem to send the packet. I believe with wireless it should try multiply times before giving an error.

Rx drop no buffer available, to busy doing "stuff". Most likely overloaded with traffic..

Rx Error broken packets...

Looking at the exact count it's 8 G. When I look at a other access point it is also 8 G.

There it is 40%.

I'm the only one seeing this?  I run the 3.2.1 controller and those EAP have a L3 join to the controller.

Cheers,

Meetriks

I reboot all the devices and it seems ok.
No errors anymore.

If the APs are mounted too close together, the number of errors increases rapidly. You can try to reduce Tx power. A good installation should show values like this:

EAP225 firmware v2.5.0, software controller 2.7.0:

EAP225 firmware v1.4.0, software controller v2.7.0:

EAP225 firmware 2.5.0, OC200 controller 3.1.13 (settings not optimized yet):

EAP225-Outdoor firmware v1.5.0, software controller v3.2.1, more interference due to neighboring APs not under my control (have no EAP225 on controller v3.2.1 yet, but FW 1.5 for EAP225-Outdoor corresponds to FW 2.5 for indoor EAP225):

Thanks for your input. I looked a bit close and it must be a software bug

The locations are 1 km away from each other.

I got an other EAP 245 with the same controller (3.2.1 linux software) not having this issue.

That one is L2 connected to the controller. All EAP are 245V3.

The clients have no issue at all with the AP's.

Looking at the Insight tab you see typical more download than upload for all clients.

I believe the AP value are wrongly processed by the controller.

Any one else running the AP's with layer 3 connection to the controller?

Cheers,

Meetriks

There is definitely something wrong with such a massive error count. Maybe forrest has an idea what could be the cause of this?

BTW: All of our controllers are L3-connected, i.e. even OC200s do not share the same subnet as the EAPs managed by them. We manage EAPs always through a controller located in a separate network, either locally and isolated by VLAN or using our software controller running on our main Internet server located in a data center.

Dear Meetriks,

Do you mean that when the Omada Controller and the EAP are in the same subnet, this problem will not occur, but when you manage the EAP in layer 3, then there are many error packets? And these problem occurs only in 5G band?

Normally, the packets will transferred wrongly in the environment with much interfere. When there is much interfere in the wireless environment, the packets may transfer wrong. So you can change the channel and channel with to have a try.

By the way, you say the locations are 1 km away from each other. Do you mean the Controller and the EAP are 1km away from each other?

Fast reply

I haven't managed the same ap at the same location l2 and l3. I have 3x eap245v3. The one connected l2 has no errors or wrong counters.

But the symmetric counters are wrong for the other two. should be same as the 2.4 band

Interference is very unlikely the unit are all outside the village. Rural.

I use the soft controller l3 over internet. We all have fiber internet.

Thanks.

Cheers,

Meetriks

Any body any thought on why TX en RX are almost all the time identical?

I'm planning to go onsite and to run a ifconfig / iwconfig using ssh op the AP.

Meetriks
