@R1D2

ive tried all your steps as described in post 15

both aps are eap225 outdoor v1

firmware is 1.20 - does this have to be updated?

both were configured and adopted connected to the network using oc200, when i unplug the second on it goes to disconnected state and i cant seem to do anything with it at that point

EAP225-Outdoor firmware v1.20 requires Omada Controller v4.1.5 (which corresponds to OC200 firmware v1.7.0):

What is the firmware version of your OC200?

If your Omada Controller is v3.2.12 (OC200 firmware v1.2.3), then you should either downgrade the EAP225-Outdoor firmware to v1.7.0 or upgrade the OC200 Omada Controller to the latest version v4.1.5.

Note that this whole thread is more than a year old now and it is related to Omada Controller versions up to v3.2.12 only.

Beware: when upgrading Omada Controller to v4.1.5, it will install Omada SDN Controller which is a completely new product and has much more fancy settings compared to the old controller v3.2.12. You will first have to carefully read the Omada Controller Upgrade Guide and the section about mesh networks in the Controller User's Guide.

If you prefer to just follow the steps outlined in this thread to quickly set up a mesh network, I recommend that you downgrade the EAP225-Outdoor firmware to v1.7.0.

Hi Forrest, Quick question for the mesh network setup. First way step 3, how to find AP with pending(wireless), the connected AP will find the 2nd AP by default, or I need to connect the 2nd AP either wired or wireless. Second way step 4, when I disconnect 2nd AP from the switch, it becomes disconnected status, and never comes back. Second way step 5, what is the isolated AP you are mentioning and where is the uplink config setting in the controller software. Thanks,

@TheWifiNoob

Does eap225 and other devices have some kind of special battery power?

The way I read the documentation... it says the connection between the root and hop1 and hop2 is via 5g and wireless.

If it is truly wireless Is there a performance hit ...?

I mean will you get faster/wider/better roaming coverage if each ap is wired?
