Model: EAP225-Outdoor
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version:

Hi guys,

I have connected successfully 1x EAP225 Outdoor via LAN to my router from Vodafone. I have used the Omada App. The Local Access did not show me the EAP, so i had to configure it as Standalone AP.

Do i need a Switch to connect the second EAP225 Outdoor via Mesh to the other EAP? The distance is too far and in the second I can’t insert LAN.

Sorry for the stupid question, I have no experience. In the manual it is written to repeat the steps to connect another EAP. But the 2nd one has no internet connection...so the same steps are not possible.

many thanks in advance

Lukas

@Mr.Noe

Please refer to page 48 of the following website, we had a detailed explaination about this.

Hello,

@TheWifiNoob You want to use two EAP225-Outdoors to deploy the mesh network. For how to deploy mesh network, there are two ways to do this.

The first way:

1) Download the latest Omada Controller from the website and install it on a PC.

2) Connect and Adopt one EAP with Controller.

3) Find AP with pending (wireless) status.

4) Adopt the AP.

5) Wait for the AP's status change from Pending (wireless) to Connected (wireless).

The second way:

1) Install the Omada Controller.

2) Connect all EAP devices and Controller together.

3) Adopt all EAP devices with Controller.

4) Remove wired connection of theAP you want to deploy wireless (Mesh AP).

5) Configure uplink for isolated AP.

6) Wait for the isolated AP's status change from Isolated to Connected (Wireless).

Thank you Forrest for your answer.

I have logged in to each EAP via his IP address.

Each EAP has now is own SSID and Password

Both are currently connected via LAN

I have also 1 account for the Omada Controller v3.1.13

When I launch the controller i do not see any EAPs

What do I need to do to see them in the Omada Controller?

Hi @TheWifiNoob

You say you manage these two EAPs in standalone mode. But you also say you cannot find the EAPs in the Controller.

I am confused with your question. If you want to deploy the mesh network, you shouldn't manage the EAP in standalone mode. You should connect your Controller host and the EAPs to a switch or a router. You can try to ping these EAPs in the Controller host to check if you can ping them successfully.

Hope this can help you.

Thank you very much Forrest for your help. It finally works The reason I was unable to see the AP in the controller was the Windows Firewall. I had to de activate it and that’s it Your option 2 was the best way for me. Thank you

Am I lost or am I lost.

I've been having problems with my 2 EAP225 outdoor units since I set them up.   In one of these posts the person said he renamed each AP with its own SSID?  Now sure how or if that will work ??

thanks in advance,

Chris K.

SSIDs are unrelated to meshing function. Meshed EAPs can have different SSIDs.

Hi dear bro,

Now What eap devices can be meshed?

How far can be placed Eap225 v3 and eap225 outdoor?

I want to give wifi in 6 flats including 2 room. 1 flat is 20'x20'. So How many eap devices mus be used? I only set up wirelessly without wired. @forrest

1. EAP225 and EAP225-Outdoor can be meshed. EAP245 will support mesh in a new firmware.

2. Depends on many environmental parameters. If there are walls in between the EAPs, max. distance will be shorter. For a mesh, EAPs should have a free line of sight and max. distance should be as small as possible.

3. I would use 3 wired EAPs (no mesh), one per each 2 flats. If ceilings are made out of reinforced concrete (ferroconcorete), I would use 6 wired EAPs, one per flat.
