yes, I have a M9 pair forming my main backbone (because it has a separate wifi channel for the backhaul), and a couple of M5's as satellites.

I have similar issues with a blended M9 and M5 setup. Firmware updates for the M5 (as it's been pushed a lot recently), and nothing on the M9, which are a far more superior piece of kit.
