I also have never got that utility to work with the same incorrect error message. Just log straight on to the switch with its ip address using your web browser and set it up that way.

I have tried several versions of the utility but none have actually manged to login into the switch. Has anyone actually ever got it to work?

By any chance, had you changed the IP details and put it on a different sub-net before you performed the upgrade? I would only attempt to upgrade this switch when it is still on its supplied static...
