sorry to hear this, are you sure you have upgraded the correct firmware? Normally if you are upgrading a wrong one it will cause the crash of the router, and it seems not easy to fix it.
And, have you tried to do a hardware reset?

How many times have you reset it? at least 10? I'm not sure if this would work but it worked on other routers ive crashed. download an FTP server that can put files somewhere rather than the client requesting it and upload it through command line. Tftpd32 is the app i used. these are directions from another forum about a different router, its worth a try
1.power off
2.power on with pressing the reset button, wait for 10s, untill the diag LED turn red, and power LED keep flashing.
3.set lan pc to 192.168.1.100
4.use tftp client to put the firmware to device. Windows command for example: tftp -i 192.168.1.1 put RV32X_v1.1.1.06_20131206-code.bin. Or using other tftp client like " http://tftpd32.jounin.net/"
5.after tftp finish, the device will reboot by itself.
6.after startup, power led is on, diag led is off.

you have to set up tftp in windows, google that

All I see if I reboot is the unreal intro and blackfoot studios as well. then a black screen. then not responding in windows 8.1 taskmanager

The device brick. the firmware given by tplink engineer damage it., very complex method to upgrade the firmware. So in the end, this device is just a waste of my time and my $$.

When I launch this games it cycles between not responding and responding. and then it does come to start loading the 1st logo - it paints the picture SUPPER slow , like 1 FPS deal, Any advice or help would be nice, Id like to play this game at least once

Im going to make a guess that you are running Win7 or Vista. If so, the "Not Responding" message is probably in the Title Bar of the window and is a problem with the OS. How to fix it? I dont know. I followed dozens of threads on this problem when I started to experience it and finally just gave in to reinstalling Windows. So if this is the problem you are experiencing, Ill bet its your OS and I would try Google to find some of the fixes and try them.
