Switch seems not to boot and does not responds to reset button

Hi,
We have four TL-SG1016PE switches that won't boot.
When I connect the power I can hear the Fan and the power led becomes green.
But when I connect a device to a port the port led will stay off and my laptop does not see the hardware.
On my laptop it just seems not connected.
On the front there is a pin hole for a reset but what ever I try that won't do anything.
There is no console port and as none of the ports seems to work I'm wondering if I miss something I can do or should I just trash them?

Hi @RobM25
Thanks for posting in our business forum.
Does it happen to all four?
Run a single cable that has been tested working, connect both ends to the router, will the ports become up? If it is up, then the switch is good.
If it does not, try other cables.
BTW, check the power adapter you have, it is important to use the OEM adapter. If it is not, there might be a power issue which cannot maintain a stable system.
For the RMA, if it is the case in the end, you can contact your local support team regarding this.

Hi @Clive_A
Thank you for your reply.
I have tested two devices and they both failed.
You suggested to do: "single cable that has been tested working, connect both ends to the router".
First the TP-SG1016PE is a 16-port switch not a router.
Second connecting both ends to the switch would mean a loop what normally is not wat you want.
But I have connected a working cable to two ports on the switch and nothing happens.
The port leds do not turn on at all.
That is the same behaviour as when I connect it with one cable to my normaly operating network.
Second you mentioned "check the power adapter".
This switch has no power adapater.
It has a build in power unit.
What is strange that as soon as I connect the switch to the power the PWR led become green and never changes.
All other led stay off and I can hear the fan.
And trying a hardware reset does not give any respond.
I have tried;
• holding the reset for more than 5 second (actually even more then 10 seconds) while te power is on.
• holding the reset button and than hilding it while connecting the power
So I think it has a hardware defect or the firmware is broken.
As this switch had no console port and is unreacheble I can't update the firmware so I'm afraid this is the end for these devices.
