Having hard time getting IP from Opnsnese VLANS through SG-108E switch
![](/avatar/avatar-7.png)
I am facing a issue where smart switch configured with VLAN's not assigning IP thru Opnsnese. HEre are details :
1- I created VLAN on OPT1 - 10.10.20.10 interface
VLANS tagged as :
- USER[30]-10.10.30.10
- IOT[40]-10.10.40.10
- DMZ[50]-10.10.50.10
2- Assigned interfaces all are active
3- Enabled DHCP ranges
4- Attached smart switch in setup confogued VLANS as follows:
- Tagged port 8 - Opnsense cable from OPT1 interface to switch
- Untagged port 1,2 and port port 3,4 and port 5,6
However when I insert PC port to switch port 1 or 2 dont get IP which I am suppose dto get from USER VLAN 10.10.20.100-10.10.30.200 ranges
Same happens t other untagged ports whcih were tagged /trunk port 8 for opnsnes OPT1 interface
Any help or direction if I am mking any mistakes.

Hi @Hassan786
Thanks for posting in our business forum.
The VLAN config is good.
PVID has been set. The uplink port 8 is trunked.
Check if you have properly configured your router for VLAN interfaces.

Not sure if there are any special settings that should be set on the VM. I don't have much experience in VM. I mainly use prebuilt routers flushed with different systems. But the VLAN looks good to me on the switch.

Hi @Hassan786,
The VM is probably stripping the vlan tags. I think there's a vlan aware setting for the VM's interfaces, but this might be a better question in a proxmox forum if you need those configuration details.

@D-C Thanks for that ! actually found out that proxmox require openvswitch . After installing this I could assign and see IP assigned to VM's in proxmox however , even after installing this openvswitch I am still not getting any VLANS assigned thru switch. May be something worng with switch or not ?
