Model: VIGI C540-W
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version: 2.0.2 Build 240914 Rel.62747n

I have two Vigi C540w cameras, both currently using micro SD cards to store videos. However, whenever the storage becomes full, the cameras can no longer detect the memory cards. I have to remove the cards, clear the files, and reinsert them to make them work again. Files with names starting with "xxxxxxxx" cannot be read, which makes me suspect a potential firmware issue. It seems the cameras are unable to automatically delete old files when the storage is full, or there might be an error with the file naming that causes the memory cards to become undetectable. This situation has been ongoing for several months, leaving me very disappointed.

Another issue is that, even when the cameras detect vehicle or human movement, they don't always send notifications, despite having notifications enabled and sensitivity set to a higher level. This problem occurs both during the day and at night. As a result, I am forced to record continuously, which in turn causes the memory cards to fill up quickly, leading to the previously mentioned issue where the cameras fail to detect the memory cards.

One of these two cameras has been in use for about a year, while the other was purchased less than a month ago, yet both exhibit the same issues. This leads me to suspect that the firmware might be the cause, especially since the memory cards function perfectly on computers or other devices. The problem only occurs when the storage is full and there are files with problematic filenames. If this is indeed a firmware issue, please address it as soon as possible. Thank you.

Hi @Tartios

Thanks for posting in our business forum.

Have you enabled Loop Recording?

Are you certain that no files are replaced? It does not delete but replaces the earliest file. I wonder if you miss this part?

You can downgrade the camera to verify if it is an issue with the firmware. I don't think so before I see something new.

Yes, I have enabled loop recording, but I’m unsure how the system manages file overwriting. The issue I’m encountering is that after some time, the cameras fail to detect the SD card. Upon removing it, I find that the SD card is full. Once I delete the files on the card, the cameras can detect it again. I’m not sure where the problem lies, but I can confirm that the SD card itself is functioning correctly. The settings for loop recording and the duration for retaining files before deletion have been configured. If this issue stems from a firmware or system error, I would appreciate further investigation and a resolution. Thank you!

I have done a test of VIGI C540-W for months. With the SD card I purchased online, it worked flawlessly.

Are you able to change a different SD card for a test? I am suspicious that the card might be the reason.

Did you face the issue before with the previous firmware? You can downgrade the camera to the previous firmware and verify if that's a firmware issue or not.

  @Clive_A

I have tried several different SD cards, including the officially recommended Kingston 256GB CANVAS Go! Plus U3 V30 A2 (Black and blue), as well as Adata and other brands, but the same issue persists. I purchased the cameras in Taiwan, and the firmware version is 2.0.2 Build 240914 Rel.62747n. The same problem keeps happening, even with a newly purchased camera, which is very frustrating.

I would like to know how to downgrade the firmware version. I have already tried resetting the cameras to factory settings, but it doesn’t revert to the original version.

If there’s a way to downgrade or another method to resolve this, I would appreciate your guidance. Thank you!

The same steps as the upgrade. You can downgrade it to the previous one manually.

If it happens to the second one, that could be the firmware. Do they behave the same with the same firmware? What if you downgrade?

There is no fix yet.

I am working with the OP on this case. Yet he has not replied to my message. We sent a debug firmware which we require certain information from him so that we could debug what went wrong.

No reason or fix for this issue. If you want to work with us debug this issue, you can let me know in your next reply.
