LAN Purpose: Difference between Interface and VLAN

Dear all,

As Is
I am currently using a Omada set-up with a non-Omada Router.
VLANs are created on the switch as Layer 2 VLANs (as I udnerstood it).
I am going to implement the ER707-M2 router, final configuration is shown below.

Questions
When creating a "New LAN" what is the difference in the Purpose between "Interface" vs "VLAN"?
If I select interface does this change how inter VLAN traffic is routed? Is then everything going through the router, which could create bottlenecks?
As I understood it, state full ACLs are not possible with switch VLANs.

Any PROS/CONS for using one or the other?

THANKS!

Additional Info
Planned Setup shown below, current setup is nealy the same but without the omada router.

DHCP and DNS by Technitium

Controller running in Proxmox host

Hi  @AllYourBase

For Layer 2 isolation, create a network as VLAN. To realize inter-VLAN routing, create a network as Interface, which is configured with a VLAN interface.

For your situation, we have a step by step guide to add the gateway router:

How to add an Omada Gateway to the network? (Controller 4.4.3 or above)

Wish you a happy life and smooth network usage!
