I'm trying to import a file to create around 600 usernames. To get the template, I just exported the users that I already have and filled in the columns on a spreadsheet, then saved it as a .csv and tried to import it. It gave me an error saying it is either the wrong file format or the contents are wrong. I tried it in a .xlsx as well, just to see if my CSV was wrong, but that didn't work either.

I noticed that when importing, it gives you a drop down for what portals you want the accounts tied to, while that is also a column on the spreadsheet. I'm assuming that means there's several columns on the export for data mining that can't be included on the import file, but I couldn't find any documentation as to what those fields are. The Omada SDN User Manual doesn't give any details as to the format required. It just points you to the paragraph above for required fields, but that includes the portal it's tied to so that doesn't make sense to me.

Does anyone have a template for local user account importing that they've successfully used in the past, or know where it's documented what fields and in what order are required?

I had already done that, but it wasn't working. I think there's a size limit to the file you can upload, because it worked with 591 entries, but not 592. It wasn't an error on entry 592, because I copy and pasted that same entry over to another spreadsheet for the rest of the accounts and it worked fine with no tweaking.

I'm not sure if it's a limit on the number of accounts or the size of the file, but that seems to be the issue.

Hi  @BHJohnson

You can try the following:

1. create a user manually;

2. export users and you will get an excel;

3. Add the rest of the users in the exported format.

4. import the file with all users.

Below is an example when I create an SSID: tplink/1234567890, portal name 11:
