Model: EAP225
Hardware Version: V4
Firmware Version:

This is my current Topology:

1) Fiber ISP Modem/Router LAN1 > 4G/5G Wifi Modem (For Cellular Back up) WAN, then LAN1 > TP Link AX23 > Home1 Network and IoT (Wired and Wireless).

This works very Fine with me now as everything handshakes automatically when Main ISP Goes Down or Up. Not needing the ER605 Multi WAN just yet.

I want to Connect an EAP225 to Broadcast to Home2 about 70m away with a Hidden SSID. Adding to Topology:

2) Fiber ISP Modem/Router LAN2 > EAP225 Broadcasting Hidden SSID > to be Received by an RE Mode TP Link Archer A5..

My Questions are:

a) Is number 2 a possible connection for Archer A5 to receive thru hidden SSID from EAP225?

b) If it's possible, Can i turn off the 2.4G and 5G Broadcast of the Archer A5 so i can only use the LAN ports from Archer A5 for Connection?

c) Will the Gadgets connected to Archer A5 at Home2 be able to access the gadgets at Home1? I was hoping not.

d) If i Connect EAP225 to my 4G//5G Wifi modem, i think it will also consume my Cellular Data Back up in case main ISP goes down, Will it? what would you

suggest as i don't want it to consume because it is a limited Data resource only. Would connecting it to my Fiber ISP be fine?

When I'm connected to my Home1 Archer AX23, I can access both the WebUI of my Fiber ISP and 4G/5G Wifi Modem.

a) Will the Gadget connected to Archer 5 at Home 2 be able to do this? I was also hoping not.

b) Does the EAP225 or the Archer A5 have the Guest Network SSID to be able to prevent this WebUI Access?

Thank you very much for the Answers and any Recommendations will be much appreciated. Not much of a networking

guy and all those Routers/Modems were just plugged and played by me. I think internet says im NATted or Double NATted

or even Triple NATted because all those Modem/Routers are on Enabled DHCP mode. Am I? Thank you.

Hi  @rowe1018

Yes, EAP225-outdoor is fine.

To build a mesh using EAP225-outdoor, an OC200 is required.

Yes, we can also configure gateway ACL without a controller.

Hi  @rowe1018

70 meters is too far away for EAP225 and Archer A5, based on your requirements and situation, here are my suggestions:

1. To build a wireless bridge, we have EAP215-Bridge KIT. And you can plug a wired switch into the second EAP215, the topology will be as below:

2. Hide SSID is not a problem.

3. To block Home2 clients from accessing Home1, you can create a separate VLAN for Home2, and configure ACL.

4. To block Home2 clients from using  4G//5G Wifi modem Cellular Data, you can Create Policy Routing and uncheck Use the other WAN port if the current one is down.

Note: Archer AX23 doesn't support Gateway ACL and Policy routing, but ER605 does. So you may need ER605 as the gateway router. At the same time, you can manage the ER605 and the EAP215-Bridge KIT on the same Omada controller platform.

  @Vincent-TP

Thank you for the very detailed reply. I will take this into consideration using the Bridge+switch instead of AP+router.

As for clarification, by EAP225 it think i was referring to the Outdoor version by the way which can reach 300m+ for the 5Ghz band.

For Future plans i was also planning to mesh another EAP225 - outdoor if situation requires and permits.

Putting the EAP225 outdoor in the Topology, would the original plan work? using the AP+router tandem.

Since i don't have the OC200 yet, will the Gateway ACL be accessible configuration thru the Web Based Omada software? will this be with the EAP225-outdoor config?

Once Again, Thank you for the reply!
