Model: EAP773
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.0.13

I ordered a eap-773 from us, got shipped to malaysia.

tried to test wifi7 for eap-773 to the samsung s24 ultra, it didn't work. Instead it only connected as wifi 6e.

SM-S928B/DS is the S24 Ultra model number.

So i thought maybe issue was tplink firmware. But the malaysia tplink also says to use the us firmware.

then i asked samsung, they said malaysia is wifi 6 only. then they simply just post their spec link and ask to refer to there

but it's clearly labelled there wifi be

does tplink eap-773 have working wifi 7 in Malaysia? or is this just a samsung issue? crying

Hi  @mooglestiltzkin

It indeed seems a bit strange. WiFi 6e can only support up to 160 MHz, yet you are getting 320 MHz. I still believe it might be a software recognition issue.

I have looked at your speed test, and it is already quite ideal. Additionally, I heard that overall internet speeds in Malaysia are not highindecision. In such a situation, even with the use of advanced WiFi 7 technology, the actual speed results shouldn't be much different. blush

I have a poe++ switch, but it is using 2.5gbe ports. So i had to use the ac adapter pin to power the ap. The led on the ap shows blue, so power wise it should be fine.

Then the 10gbe port i connect to my switch via SFP+ 10g base t module.

Then from my switch it is connected to my desktop pc using SFP+ om3 fiber optic also 10g

for client device i has the Samsung S24 Ultra which spec wise ought to be wifi7 capable. But from my testing it only connected as wifi 6e crying

Hi  @mooglestiltzkin

From the picture, you are using channel 69, 320mhz, which is already wifi7. Maybe the tool you are using is not correctly displaying the wifi protocol.

wifi6e doesn't support 320mhz.

  @Vincent-TP

i'm using wifiman on android to check.

Also i see the top notification icons it shows wifi 6

I also just learned through a local youtuber

https://youtu.be/b-5TicJUIWI?t=582

The youtuber clarified he got wifi7 to work with all other brands for smartphones EXCEPT for the samsung specifically the S24 Ultra.

So seems like the issue is more of a samsung thing. Tplink should be fine but i cannot verify since this S24 Ultra is the only wifi 7 client device i have and it doesn't work. But the youtuber tested with many devices and got a more conclusive answer.

Seems Singapore has working wifi 7 for their S24 Ultra.

Tried asking samsung what gives but they didn't give a proper answer just that malaysia only wifi 6 for this phone, despite their spec sheet for malaysia listing wifi 7 triband support which is hilarious crying

  @Vincent-TP

That's what i thought as well. It's weird. But seeing as i'm not getting results of above 1g even while in arms reach of ap, makes me believe the wifi 6e is indeed what it really is using crying

  @Vincent-TP

u r absolutely correct. practically wifi 6e @ 6GHz is good enuff.

even netflix 4k at most only need 25 mbps.

so really usability wise, it's fine. even when i was using wifi5 at 5ghz it just worked even streaming jellyfin to watch self hosted videos from truenas.

even the middling subscriber speeds is like 100, 300, 500, 800 mbps. there is a 2gbps offering but who really needs that :X

That said, i do networking testing to play with so i wanted working wifi 7 so a bit bummed out sad
