URL filtering does not seem to work
Hello,
So im trying to use URL filtering to block things for my kiddo. Yet, it seems that the sites just get loaded even tho they are in the deny list.
Is it required that the DNS settings of the client are configured to be the router? Because now they are pointing towards 2 PI-Hole servers.
Anyway, some screenshots:
As for testing, just one IP has been configured which is:
The new policies have been applied i have confirmed that into the application result log. Also, the IP address of my client is 192.168.5.71 as indicated.I have also ran a ipconfig /flushdns. Still, www.youtube.com is accessible.
Same goes for when i try it inPrivate. Controller version is the last version.
Also with IPgroup:Any the block doesnt work.
How can i fix this?

Hi @Naldjer
Thanks for posting in our business forum.
You might wanna use the search function on the forum.
If you have the pi-hole, why not set up the block from the DNS server? At least people from GitHub run the update of the URL. The guide I give is merely a list of the URLs that YTB might use based on the search results from Google. So I don't guarantee it would be effective on all platforms (i.e. cellphone YTB app).

Hi @NorCalJohn
You can check out this firmware and see if it resolves the problem.
ER605(UN) V2 2.2.6 20240621 Pre-Release Firmware (Released on July 3rd, 2024)
The reason is mainly the Chrome updated its settings which caused the access is bypassed.

A downgrade is the same process as an upgrade.

@Clive_A I have the same issue with er605. The URL filter which worked previously is now broken. I upgraded firmware through the Omada Software Controller. How do you do a downgrade through the Omada controller? I see no option for that.
EDIT: I found how to downgrade. Testing that now.
EDIT 2: The downgrade didn't help. It actually corrupted my configuration and I had to start all over. URL filtering still did not work with a completly new configuration.

Start a new thread with the configuration screenshots.
This is not a problem with the downgrade/upgrade. It should be the URL.
I have explained and iterated for times in the other guide about the URL filter. For big tech companies' apps/software, only using one or not including all the URLs would not be effective.
Simple as that, if you have a domain or you know a site with only single domain, you try a block rule and see if it works.
Update:
Based on the consult with the dev, a primitive conclusion is that it might be the URL or the browser update.
Recently, the Chromium-based browser updated the TLS 1.3 and this might cause some problems with the browsing.
We are looking into this new update on Chrome and testing if there is a fix to this problem. Will get back to you soon.
