Model: EAP115-Wall
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 5.0.5

Hi, I apologize for the long title but I couldn't think of anything better.

I write here, hoping that somebody can help me with this particular issue I'm experiencing.

HW Configuration

ER7212pc

 Port 5: EAP115-Wall

           _Downlink port: Network printer 192.168.50.2

           _Office WiFi: MyLaptop 192.168.50.3

Subnet configuration

Office network: Vlan 50 interface port 5 192.168.50.1/24

Port 5: Pvid 50

SSID: Office WiFi - vlan off

Downlink Vlan off

Behaviour

192.168.50.3 pings 50.2 OK

192.168.50.2 pings 50.3 OK

Everything works fine. At least it does until I set the device as following.

Port 5: PVID 1

Office WiFi - VLan 50

Downlink port: Vlan 50

Printer and pc correctly get their IP addresses but they can't communicate. Ping: Host unreachable / timed out / Host is down.

It doesn't matter what I do, even when I set ACL and Static route to the port 5. Even if I set back the Pvid to 50. They can't find each other.

Any suggestions is welcome here. And thank you for your attention.

  @Pietr-o

Port 5: PVID 1

That’s not going to work. You have VLAN-unaware devices and you want them to be in VLAN 50. The PVID needs to be 50 and the port untagged in VLAN 50.

“Even if I set back the Pvid to 50. They can't find each other.

When your are finished with the changes, restart the devices or clear the MAC address and ARP tables.

  @Pietr-o

What about setting the mDNS? Are the printer and the PC in the different interface?

A detailed article here you can see.

Hi @Virgo, I appreciate your advice.

Unfortunately, It doesn't apply to my situation, as I'm trying to ping IPs instead of hostnames. I'm sending unicast packets without any hostname involved.

@KJK Thank you for your suggestion.

So from my understanding of your statement

"The PVID needs to be 50 and the port untagged in VLAN 50"

you are saying that the "Downlink port Vlan" setting is not the same setting as PVID but it's just allowing tagged traffic to pass.
I wonder why the gateway can assign an IP to the printer from the right pool.

"When your are finished with the changes, restart the devices or clear the MAC address and ARP tables."
I haven't tried yet. I'll get back as soon as I complete the test.

Thank you again.
