I have only basic network knowledge.

I am struggling to implement VLANs between a SG2218 switch and a Cisco RV320 router.

 

Here's my previous configuration :

- 2 floors building : a workshop in the basement and an office in the ground floor

- Network core is located in the basement with the RV320 (no VLAN) and unmanaged switches

- In the basement, I have 3D printers, cameras, Wifi access point.... on unmanaged switches

- In the office, there is a unmanaged switch with desktop, printers...

- 1 ETH cable between the 2 floors

- an internet access, box from an ISP provider connected to the RV320 - WAN1

- a 4G router in backup for dedicated vpn access (Huawei 4G router) connected to the RV320 - WAN2 -> as it's in the basement limited throughput and reception

- a 4G router in backup for ISP (Free 4G router) connected to the ISP box -> as it's in the basement limited throughput and reception

- Load balancing + dedicated rules to route only the dedicated VPN access on WAN2

 

To improve my backup, I need to put the 2 4G routers on the ground floor.

I have replaced the office switch with the SG2218 and I am trying to implement 2 isolated VLAN between the RV320 and SG2218, keeping the default VLAN for the desktop, printers, 3D printers and cameras.

 

On RV320

I have created VLAN 2 for ISP 4G Router (Free) and VLAN 3 for VPN 4G Router (Huawei) as follows.

`No DHCP on the RV320 for these VLANs as the 4G routers provide an IP Adress.

Free 4G router output is on LAN 2 -> connected to the iSP box

Huawei 4G router output is on LAN 3 -> connected to the RV320 - WAN2

"Trunk" ethernet between the 2 floors is on LAN 1 with an unmanaged switch in between for the workshop network

 

 

On the SG2218

"Trunk" ethernet is on port 1

Desktop, printers, ... on ports 2-14

Free 4G router is on port 15

Huawei 4G router is on port 16

 

VLAN1 have the default configuration except port 15-16 Excluded

VLAN2 have Port 1 Tagged, Port 15 Untagged, others Excluded

VLAN3 have Port 1 Tagged, Port 16 Untagged, others Excluded

 

Port 1-14, 17-18 : PVID 1

Port 15 : PVID 2

Port 16 : PVID 3

All ports have ingress checking and Admit all

 

Currently, this configuration is not working.

Is it feasible only with these devices ? And where is the misconfiguration ?

Or should I go for another SG2218 as a core switch and a proper trunk between the two floors ?

The configuration is probably okay, but definitely remove that unmannaged switch from the setup.

That was also my idea on the setup

 

So I have moved the unmanaged switch out of the link between the RV320 and the SG2218

I now have the trunk direct between RV320 - LAN1 and SG2218 - Port 1

Unmanaged network has move to RV320 - LAN4, allowing all the Untagged traffic from VLAN 1, others Excluded

 

No changes done on configuration so far.

 

My VPN is still not working, but the Huawei 4G Router is properly seen from the RV320 WAN2.

So the VLANs are working as expected.

 

My VPN issue looks like to be another story now
