IPv6 EAP690E (and EAP670)
IPv6 EAP690E (and EAP670)
Good day,
I have an EAP690E HD and an EAP670 with a virtual controller on a virtual machine.
So far everything works fine, except IPv6. For the price of the EAP 690, I don't understand why IPv6 doesn't work. Other APs for less money have this under control.
With the EAP 670, IPv6 only works with beta software and with the EAP690 not at all. When is there an improvement in sight?

Hello @alexindigo,
After confirming with the Support team, the new firmware version EAP690E HD(EU)_V1_1.0.1 Build 20221114 doesn't contain the BUG fixed mentioned here, they will evaluate it in the subsequent firmware update. Thanks for your valuable feedback.

Hi,
Will there be new firmware for the EAP690HD?
do not work with 5.14.0.11, are online and send SSID. connection is possible, but IP from DHCP is not received.
These APs are really expensive but unfortunately they are not maintained :-(

Hi @Pascal86
As far as I know, the EAP690E HD should be still under maintenance. Have you tried to upgrade the firmware of EAP690E HD to the beta firmware 1.0.3? It should solve the ipv6 issue.

yes the AP work with 1.0.3, but after the controller update to 5.14.0.11, it doesn`t work. IPv6 works with 1.0.3 without any problems.
I understand software maintenance to mean something else, the last official firmware came in July 2023.
It's not as if the firmware from July 2023 is error-free
I really expected more!

Honestly the fact they end of lifed it so soon is a slap to the face. I purchased two of these units at a significant price. Have a full Omada 10 gig setup, as I have fibre 8/8 symmetrical.
I am looking to drop all of TP links products, the disconnect between controller versions and when firmwares are available for devices to support the features is disturbing. Basic features like mini jumbo frames for PPPoe not being supported on 8411.
But to EOL a flag ship access point with no new HD access point available and not have it up to date to even the current controller software version is honestly pathetic. $750 Canadian a piece thrown down the drain on your flag ship access point and no software support received other than a beta firmware pathetic

I'm throwing out the hardware too.
Reasons:
- No new firmware for EAP690E HD for over a year and for SG3428X over 7 months
- no support for IPv6 clients with EAP690EHD (except beta firmware)
- lousy WLAN performance with EAP690E HD (under 1 Gb/s with WiFi 6, network core and AP connected at 10Gb/s and directly in front of the AP)
- no smart LACP for LAG-IF (load is not distributed)
the switches (SG3428X) are good for this price, but it is a pity that no firmware updates are delivered, especially top model EAP690
